How a passion for coffee became Makati's coziest corner
Sulok Coffee began as a specialty coffee cart, conducting its business away from the many notions associated with popular coffee culture — fuel, palpitation, and caffeine kick. For founder Miguel Vasquez, coffee has always been something deeper.
Growing up in a family of professed coffee addicts and working part-time as a barista, Miguel knew his passion always leaned towards sharing quality coffee. Despite Sulok being young, coffee is embedded in Miguel's childhood, and that love shines through in every cup served.
Today, Sulok has found its permanent home on the 3rd floor of One Salcedo Center in Legazpi Village — a cozy hideaway you might miss if you're not looking closely. And that's part of the charm.
Our philosophy of slow living, one cup at a time
Sulok distinguishes itself from the rapidly rising coffee culture with its very ethos: "hinay-hinay lang" — which roughly translates to "take it slow." In a city that thrives on hustle, Sulok is a deliberate counterpoint.
Miguel uses coffee as a means of slow living. Every drink is carefully crafted, every bean is thoughtfully sourced, and every customer is welcomed to simply sit, sip, and stay awhile. There's no rush here — only the gentle rhythm of good coffee and good company.
The space itself reflects this philosophy: mismatched furniture that feels like a friend's living room, local artwork on the walls, warm lighting, and a big window that lets in either the afternoon sun or the Makati night lights.
The values that guide every cup we serve
Every drink is crafted with care, using single-origin beans that highlight the distinct character of each origin. We never rush a pour.
From selling local products by Studio Sug to welcoming pets and their humans, Sulok is a space built for connection and belonging.
Our pastries are baked by the owner's mother. Our recipes carry family stories. Sulok is built on love passed down through generations.
